Study finds that stress from poverty alters children's DNA

Nature, the international weekly journal of science, published an article last week that reports poverty and unstable family environments can shorten chromosomes. Chronic stress can affect children down to the molecular level. You can read the article here. Our takeaway is we need to do more to help with basic needs to combat poverty, diaper need, and hunger. Diaper banks can provide a huge boost to needy families by providing diapers. Household stress levels come way down when baby is healthy and comfortable with all the diapers she needs.
