Know What's Spooky? That Pumpkin Spice Latte Habit Is the Same Cost as Diapering a Baby!

It's true! If you grab a latte three times a week, that's about $12 a week. Assuming an average number of diapers and the price per diaper we get, Austin Diaper Bank can diaper a baby for that cost. Consider giving thanks this holiday season and using your morning coffee money for a great cause: providing diapers to a sweet newborn at the Austin Children's Shelter or a sassy toddler at Settlement Home for Children. We even assist medically fragile children at Kids At The Crossroads who need diapers for a longer period of time.  It feels good to help our fellow Austinites. Give the gift of health in the form of a clean, reliable supply of diapers by donating here.

Be the Do-Gooder in Your Workplace and Feel the Karma High: Host a Diaper Drive

With the holidays just around the corner, it is the perfect time to plan how you will give thanks for your many blessings. A diaper drive is an easy, no hassle way to directly affect the lives of people in your community. There are an estimated 12,000 Austin children in a diaper need situation. Just follow these steps to be the rockstar in your workplace, your friends and family, and in the eyes of Austin Diaper Bank:

1. Choose a timeframe and theme. A week is good but some places will do a month.  "Give Thanks, Give Diapers" is a standard theme but we are sure you can be more creative than that.

2. Clear the thing with HR/the boss, obviously. You might have to alter your step 1. You might want to set goals or have departments compete to make it even more fun. If you want your diapers to go to specific organization(s), we'd be happy to arrange that.

3. Announce the drive: at a staff meeting and/or whatever fits your work culture. Someone from the diaper bank would be happy to talk about the particulars of where the diapers go etc. Work that theme, get excited! (We get excited to hear about these plans too, so keep us in the loop!)

4. Now you are off to the races, collecting diapers. It's so rewarding to see them pile up! Take photos. Celebrate the success by sharing your results with your co-workers during the drive.

5. Email/call Austin Diaper Bank to transport diapers or have us pick them up. THERE! You helped kids and senior citizens in five easy steps. Santa will be very good to you this year!

We hope you'll help make Austin Diaper Bank a sustainable success this holiday season. All you have to is . Who wouldn't want to make a baby this happy?!

What Do All of Our Partner Agencies Have In Common?

Answer: They all receive diapers from the Austin Diaper Bank! We have provided diapers to 11 different non-profit organizations in our first 5 months of operation. Giving diapers or dollars to the Austin Diaper Bank also helps the following groups:

  • Any Baby Can
  • Austin Children's Shelter
  • Austin LifeCare
  • AGE (Austin Groups for the Elderly)
  • HAND Austin (Helping the Aging, Needy and Disabled)
  • Helping Hand Home for Children
  • Hope Alliance
  • Kids At the Crossroads
  • Partnerships for Children
  • SafePlace
  • Settlement Home for Children
These groups serve Austin and the surrounding areas. Organizations like these take care of our less fortunate babies, children and senior citizens. Donating diapers or dollars can help diaper a baby like 4 month old Elizabeth, whose mother is trying to get on her feet after fleeing an abusive partner. Or they might keep diaper costs low for Ernie, a disabled veteran living on a fixed income. Diapers are a necessity to live a healthy and happy life. With the holidays coming up, now is the time to act- to help Austin Diaper Bank make a difference in the lives of our fellow Austinites. Please donate diapers or dollars today.

One week and one elementary school class = 2,200 diapers!

It's amazing what a small group of people can do when they work together for a common goal. The SBLC (Strength-based Learning Cohort) at Kiker Elementary conducted a week-long diaper drive.  Led by their teachers Ms. Blake, Ms. Forrest and Ms. Reiman, these students netted over 2,200 diapers for Austin's babies and toddlers in need. Special thanks to Sadie Shriftman and Carrie Keith for bringing them the idea and helping out.  What an inspiration these students are. Gold stars for all!

UT Austin's Kappa Delta Sorority Completes Fall Diaper Drive

The ladies at Kappa Delta, specifically the Pledge Class of '13, worked hard in September to get over 1,400 diapers for Austin Diaper Bank.  These diapers will specifically go to help the babies and toddlers at Lifeworks Austin and Hope Alliance Shelter in Round Rock. Thank you ladies for giving back to the greater Austin community.

Hooray for MOMS Club of SE Round Rock/Hutto!

Those moms of SE Round Rock/Hutto deserve a round of applause! Their diaper drive during the month of September brought in 2,568 diapers! That many diapers will supply 10 children for a whole month.  That's one month for their moms and dads to feel great about keeping their babies dry, healthy and happy. Austin Diaper Bank is only successful when great groups like these put on diaper drives. We salute you MOMS Club of SE Round Rock and Hutto!
